After 23 years of very unusual market corrections, they get less scary. That was not always the case, however experience is the best teacher. My first correction started in 1997 with the Asian Currency Crisis. Then the early 2000 bursting of the dot com bubble which almost made me change my career followed by 9/11/2001 where I very much questioned my place in the industry. However, I quickly realized that failure was not an option and knew I was built to help clients get through the unknown. In 2008 FFG was tested again requiring making tough decisions to prevent experiencing the full effects of that historical drawdown. We currently are navigating through the new world of COVID-19 and the playbook fundamentals generally remains the same. Focus on the companies with solid balance sheets who position themselves to be the winners in the new world. Also have hedges, strategies that are designed to work in volatile markets, and a game plan for anything the world can throw our way. This playbook has helped me to be recognized as a 2020 Forbes Ranking Of America’s Top 1,000 Women Wealth Advisors.
